Harpers Ferry National Historical Park
Harpers Ferry is at the confluence of the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers, as well as the states of Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia. Visiting this quaint, historic community is like stepping into the past. Robert Harper opened a ferry across the Potomac in 1761. The town was a hotspot for the Civil War because of the US Armory and Arsenal, and was the site of John Brown’s Raid.
